How to Install Hjdeck?

Product Arrival Guide

After receiving the Hjdeck product, please place the package and its contents in a cool or ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Take out the EVA mat and lay it flat overnight.

Surface Preparation

The surface area where Hjdeck will be applied must be thoroughly prepared as follows:

1. Initial Cleaning: Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove grease and dust.  
2. Deep Cleaning: For stubborn residues, use acetone for secondary cleaning.  
3. Final Check: Ensure the surface is free of loose debris, completely dry, and free of chemical residues.

Standard Installation Process

Hjdeck features a "peel-and-stick" design for quick and easy installation. Follow the visual guide below, allowing initial repositioning for alignment.  

Critical Requirements

• Verify that any existing grease, adhesive, wax or similar coating is removed prior to installation.
• When applying exposed adhesive, ensure that the air temperature is above 60F.
• Do not attempt to overstretch the mats.

 

Installation for Challenging Substrates

If the Hjdeck edge cannot be directly bonded to the finished fiberglass or aluminum surface, additional Tap Primer must be used.

Any primer is supported, 3M™ Tape Primer 94 is recommended.

Application Steps

Step 1  Primer Application

1. Clean and dry the substrate thoroughly.  
2. Apply a thin, uniform layer of 3M™ Tape Primer 94. Porous surfaces may require two coats. 

Step 2  Drying & Installation

- Allow each primer coat to dry for approximately 5 minutes.  
- Install Hjdeck immediately after the primer fully dries to prevent contamination.
