Recommendations for the installation of EVA Boat Flooring Sheets

Recommendations for the installation of EVA Boat Flooring Sheets - HJDECK

Tools Needed

1) Sharp Utility Knife
2) Masking Tape
3) Measuring Ruler
4) Roller (Laminated)
5) Cleaner
6) Clean Rag
7) Adhesion promoter. If there are non-slip particles on the surface, or the surface is not flat, we recommend applying a little adhesive glue before installation (E.g 3M Primer 94).
8) Glue. (lf you have purchased 2 or more pieces, need use the glue to spliced together. Otherwise not needed.)
9) If your deck has been pasted with EVA mats or Carpet, you also need to prepare a shovel to get rid of old mats.

Installation Recommendationsย

1) Install EVA mat in temperatures between 50ยฐ F to 100ยฐ F (10ยฐ C to 38ยฐC).
2) The surface needs to be completely clean and free of any residues(oil, wax, dust, etc).
3) The floor surface also needs to be completely dry in order for EVA foam mat to adhere properly.
4) Do not attempt to adjust or move once the installation process has begun.
5) To prevent distortion, avoid pulling, stretching, or compressing pads during installation.

[About the Color] - If you purchase more than 2 pieces and find that there is color difference, please change the sheet head to tail swap.

(The wire drawing on the surface of the material has a direction).

[About Splicing] - If you have purchased 2 or more pieces and need to be spliced together, it is recommended to use glue to splice the two pieces together before installing. If you install directly without splicing first, there will be slight shrinkage after a long time, and garbage will be hidden in the splicing place.

[About Adhesive] -The boat deck materials are aluminum alloy, glass fiber reinforced plastic, gel coat board(FRP), PP, PVC, wood, etc. The adhesive is the strongest on the aluminum alloy, and the wood is the least sticky. The uneven surface is not sticky. For the surface that is not sticky, it is recommended to use an adhesion promoter to coat the deck before stick the EVA foam sheet.

Preparation

Completely wash the entire area where installation will occur (remove all grease, adhesive, mold-release, wax, dirt, and other substances). Ensure the area is completely dry before continuing. If had stuck old mat or something on the deck, you need to use tools to clean the surface of the deck.

Installation

ย Step1:

Unpack and layout out all pieces on a flat surface to allow them to relax and return to flat after being packed for shipping. Fix them with marking pen or masking paper. Confirm the exact installation position. (Please make sure the texture direction).

[Suggestion] - We suggest beginning at either the front or back and working towards the other direction.

ย Step 2:

Measuring the size, mark, trim and cut the EVA foam sheet, lay out the pads in their designated locations to verify that the fit and spacing is correct.

[Note] -If the material to be affixed is a surface that is not easy to stick / has non-slip particles / an uneven surface, you must first coat the surface of the deck with an adhesion promoter evenly, then stick the EVA foam sheet.

ย Step 3:

If the piece is large, you can use a sharp razor knife, gently cut the paper adhesive backing from the left to right(or right to left). But DO NOT cut into the pad.

ย Step 4:

Starting from the center cut you just made, peel back 2"(5 cm) of the paper backing and fold to crease it. Repeat on the other side. Fold both pieces of the paper backing in place to cover the adhesive.

ย Step 5:

Turn the pad back over and reposition it exactly where you want it installed.

ย Step 6:

Firmly secure one side of the pad to the surface area using masking tape. Taping prevents the pad from moving.

ย Step 7:

Lift up the side that is not taped down and peel the paper backing from the crease. Gently lay the pad back in place. Use masking tape to prevents the pad from moving.

ย Step 8:

Peel the paper backing from the other side crease. Once the piece is in place and backing paper fully removed press down on the entire surface to ensure bond.

ย Step 9:

Take your roller roll in a back and forth motion from the center of the piece (center to top, center to bottom). Apply even pressure to ensure no air is trapped beneath the pad, special attention to all the edges. The pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back of the mats requires 15psi to activate.

[Tips] - If you get a small bubble that will not work itself out you can poke a hole in the mat with a pin or the point of your razor knife and push the air out through the hole. The hole will be invisible once it is pressed down.

ย Step 10:

Continue with the rest of the areas to be covered with mats using the same method, and ensuring alignment of each piece before sticking them down. Enjoy your new EVA foam mat.

Maintenance

1) Cleaning with water. If there is fish blood, red wine and other colored liquid needs to be cleaned as soon as possible.
2) Do not press heavily, if you need to press, you need to press the whole eva foam mat.
3) Do not scald at high temperature, instantaneous high temperature. Above 70 degrees will cause the material to shrink and destroy the internal structure.

PS: The glass refraction focus point on the ship will produce high temperature.
